The dependability of this engine and drive train has been second to none in my experience, which is why I purchased this SUV as it is the last year of the 5.4L. Other than being a stickler for routine maintenance, this vehicle has not been babied in any way. I just recently purchased a 2014 Navigator with 70K miles and also the 5.4L. Average gas mileage was between 18-20mpg without a tow load, 15-16mpg with a tow load. Mostly road miles between my home and in Flagler County and my shop in Ocala, and my daughters home in Pensacola. on this truck at all, and 5+ years later it now has 221K miles. have had ZERO maintenance issues, check engine lights, etc. With the exception of normal maintenance items (Brakes, spark plugs etc.), this vehicle has been entirely trouble free.
I immediately serviced my Expedition with AMSOIL products. I purchased this vehicle in December 2014 with 66K miles on it and the 5.4L V-8. I 'wasted' money on an extended warranty as I wasn't sure how well this Jeep would hold up, what with the quadra-lift and all the other bells and whistles, especially with 136K already on it. I was a bit wary of the 3.6l, having owned 4.0l Jeeps up until this one. Translation: jack rabbit starts are the norm, not the exception. I've already been scanning traffic, so I don't have to scan AFTER the light turns green as many drivers evidently do, I'm already situationally aware. I don't baby any vehicle I own when it comes to getting from point A to point B. I get about 14 on average due to driving in town with a lead foot. I've taken a few ~4500 mile road trips and at speeds up to 110mph, mileage averaged 22 mpg on each of those road trips.

I did have to replace the oil cooler housing as it cracked and started leaking antifreeze, and the oil pressure sensor failed twice. My next Jeep will have a V8, though I doubt I will upgrade to the Trackhawk, maybe an SRT. The only 'regret' is that my Jeep has the V6, not the V8.
I've owned a '90 Comanche, 92 Cherokee, and 98 Grand Cherokee along with several other vehicles since the 80s. I bought my 2011 Overland used in 2018 with 136K.
